Butter Twist Buns with Filling

These butter twist buns are very tasty. By spreading more butter on the buns fresh from the oven, if you wish, you’d find yourself more indulged by rich fragrance and buttery flavor. They are perfect for breakfasts, goes well with eggs and ham, together with a cup of tea or coffee. You can also fill them with a filling of your choice.

Butter Twist Buns – Recipe

Way of preparation – medium

Prep time

  • Prep time – 30 minutes
  • Cooking time – 15 to 20 minutes

Yields – 20 – 25 twist buns

Ingredients:

  • 4 2/3cups  (580 grams) all-purpose flour plus more for kneading and dusting
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 ml water or milk, about 36C/97F
  • 18 tablespoons (250 grams) butter (melted)
  • 3/4ounce (20 grams) fresh yeast, or 1 teaspoon instant yeast 

For the filling:

  • 3/4cup (150 grams) granulated sugar + teaspoons ground cinnamon OR
  • 3/4 cup jam OR
  • ham and cheese

Instructions how to make butter twist buns

  • Mix all ingredients in a breadmaker or knead by hand
  • When all the ingredients come together roll it into a ball
  • Set in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, making the filling by mixing the sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl
  • When the dough has rested, gently punch it down and scrape it out of the bowl and onto the work surface
  • Knead it a few times, and then roll it into a ball
  • Preheat the oven to 350° F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper

1st step

  • Divide the dough into 20 or 25 equal portions.
  • Knead each into a ball shape
  • Lightly press and flatten each ball

2nd

  • Make 3 to 4 cuts on the right side
  • Make 3 to 4 cuts on the left side
  • On the top (not-cut part) side put a spoon of fillings
  • Cover this with a bottom ( not-cut part)

  • Now wrap the ribbons
  • Tightly pinch the edges
  • Let rest for 15 minutes
  • Bake in well-heated oven 15 minutes
  • Remove from the oven

  • Let cool
  • Sprinkle with sugar powder
  • Serve and Enjoy!
